These are the horrors of my nine to five…

The horrors of the nine to five…. It happened to me this morning, Tuesday, the 6th of January. I had quite a rough night not being able to sleep for some reason. Was something bugging me? I don’t know. But, the first thing I remember was an irritating noise going: beep.. beep..beep..beep..  beeeeeeeep… What the… it was the alarm clock telling me that even though I had the feeling I was just about to fall asleep, I now had to get up! I opened up my eyes looked at my alarm clock and, gee… I was too late…What’s new, I thought…

Let me tell you, I have an ok job and an ok boss but there is one thing he hates and that is his personnel coming in late. So, I was not going to either. This meant rushing and the first stress of the day. Not even awake for three minutes and stress…

I jumped out of bed, did the things I do in the morning as fast as I could, had breakfast and ran downstairs to get In my car to drive to work . Shoot. It was raining. And, hold on a minute… Did I not park my car here yesterday evening, coming home from work?

But, … It was not there… Think Walt, wtf did you do with your car last night?

After asking the same question about 20 times in 50 seconds I came to the conclusion that I must have parked it elsewhere. You see, I live in a quite busy estate were coming home from work means the battle of the parking spots.

Should you be home later than all of your neighbors you better find yourself a parking spot as close to your door as possible. For me, I now remembered, that was yesterday since I worked late and I was not so lucky.

My car was around 15 minutes away from here, it was pouring rain and, that meant going back in to my house to get my umbrella, walk true the rain for 15 minutes, get in my car and race to work. This was something I did not calculate into my way of getting to work and it meant getting late. Too late…

I figured, maybe if I really rush, I might just make it on time… So, that was what I did. I ran upstairs, remembering what I had to do this day as account manager. Shoot part two, I had a very important business meeting with a rather large and important client at 10 this morning. I better look as sharp as possible. So, on my way up to my umbrella, I decided to check out the mirror.

I noticed that I did not shave as well as I should have and that meant doing it now. More time wasted! Now I really had to rush and so I did.

After 5 minutes shaving and searching for my umbrella I ran outside, walked for about 20 minutes to find my car which was parked a good few blocks away.

As soon as I arrived at my car I saw something which I detested with all of my mind body and soul. Since I was two minutes too late with removing my car from a pay to park spot, my car had been clamped. This is a great hobby here for all the traffic wardens and parking police here in Amsterdam. The clamping business must be a great one. The fine for me this morning? Euro 150 for two minutes being late. I was about to explode and curse against whatever I could find. The rain, the bad night sleep, the being late and… and… the fucking wheel clamp.

Never mind the fine, I had to get to work and I had to get there ASAP. At this stage, I was soaking wet and I decided it was time to call my boss that I will be in late…

Before I called him, I checked out the traffic and if I would be heading for one of the dreaded traffic jams going to work. The news that brought me made me wish I had stayed in my bed… Or even better: that I had won the lottery and did not have to go to work…

But the reality was this: 7 kilometer traffic jam at the least which meant I am in serious trouble now…

With my umbrella in one hand, my suitcase in the other I tried to operate my mobile device in order call my boss, who would be furious…

Zap… a wind gush and gone was my umbrella. It was sticking up like a poor fed palm tree you’d feel sorry for if you would see it. Can you imagine what I felt? Now the rain was pouring down on me as if I was standing on the bottom of the Niagara Falls. And, I still had to call my boss.

I felt like crying. :(

I had found some shelter and made myself get myself together again. I had to face the reality and explain to my boss what had happened.

He surely would understand the situation and a reassuring ‘don’t worry Walt, it is fine… Relax and drive save’ is what I was hoping to hear from my boss as soon as I had explained what was going on and why I would be too late.

But, I was kind of afraid I would get the usual ‘why did you not get up earlier to get here on time, damnit?’

Anyways, I dialed the number of my office and was waiting for the phone to be answered.

All I heard was prrrrrrrrrr…prrrrrrrrrrrrr…prrrrrrrrrr…

And, then I woke up for real.

Wow, where am I? And,  what happened with the rain, the clapped up umbrella, soaking wet suit, the clamp and the upset boss?

I realized I had been dreaming all along and was glad to find out I was in warm and sunny Portugal, the Algarve, it was 11 in the morning and the prrrr noise I heard was one of my cats who decided to cuddle up against my pillow.

Outside I could hear birds singing and the sun was beaming true the windows. I hopped out of bed, got dressed, do the things I do in the morning, did NOT shave and took my dog out for a walk. Here I was, standing in the sun, eating a freshly picked orange with nothing else than peace and tranquility around me. Walking around the 5 kilometer private grounds that surround my house here I realized how lucky I now was.

After my bad dream I decided to treat myself and my dog to our daily walk on the beach… :)

I went to the beach (five minutes away from my house ) and took the following two pictures:

Calling the first photo ‘a busy day at the office…’  :)

My doggy…

Was I on a holiday? No folks, this is the difference between a pretty bad day as I am sure everybody who works can recognize it some way or the another and: living the internet lifestyle that belongs to an internet marketer.

Because, that is what I started to do around 7 years ago, taking my own future in my own hands, and is what I am still doing today.

I am by far not rich as in owning millions of dollars, but, I am able to work from home, make enough money to live happy and have enough of what I want and have the enormous wealth of being able to do what I want when I want it, where I want it.

Whenever you want to turn your dream around, the solution is not too far away. If I can do it, so can you. And, it will be the best thing you do in 2009.

Go find out how things work on the internet. Get yourself some knowledge and soon you will find out that making money online is not the hardest thing to do at all. Most knowledge is available to you for free to warn you. Most people who want to start making money online go out and buy everything under the sun in the hope they will learn how to do it.

My advise? Have a good look around and you shall find. And, then there is the smart internet marketing blog.

Any questions? Why not ask them here…

Let me begin with these ones:

Ever had a day starting off as bad as I had in my dream? Ever wanted to make it online so that you can kiss your 9-5 goodbye as well?
